When the Herb Connolly Auto Group decided to go green, we increased our commitment to new able energy, working with Solect Energy Development of Hopkinton to install a new 40 kW PV (photovoltaic) system on the canopy room of our new 16-space carport located at our Chevrolet dealership on Route 9 in Framingham. The carport houses charging stations for the dealership’s fast-selling Chevrolet Volt.
The carport is part of our ongoing commitment to solar. The Chevrolet Volt continues to be one of our fastest selling models, and this project helps us demonstrate to our customers and to the community out total commitment to renewable energy and the environment.
In the Fall of 2013, we worked with Solect to install a 200 kW solar photo (PV) renewable energy system on the roof of our Acura and Hyundai dealerships, and a 185 kW system on the roof of our Chevrolet dealership. These projects are expected to help our company trim the electric bills by more than 50% annually. This system will offset 333 tons of CO2 annually and generates enough electricity to power the equivalent of 38 homes.
System Size: Acura/Hyundai 194.7 kW; Chevy 175.23 kW; Carport 40 kW
Number of Panels: Acura 660 panels; Chevy 594 panels; Chevy Carport 156 panels
